High Risk Auto Insurance Quotes - From Toronto To San Diego And All Points In Between

Are you searching for car insurance quotes but are being discouraged because your auto insurance broker or agent keeps telling you that they cannot insure you because you are considered "high risk?" Don't be discouraged. There are insurance brokers that deal specifically with high risk drivers. And, your insurance rates probably won't be as bad as you think. You just need to seek out these high risk insurance companies.

I wrote this article to help explain what is considered high risk when it comes to auto insurance. This will help you realize what you must do to have your "high risk" label removed. Now, every state and every province is a little different when it comes to defining a high risk driver. So, if you are in Toronto, Ontario, the rules will be different then if you are in San Diego, California, and of course it will be different if you are in Denver, Colorado. No matter where you are in Canada or The United States all regions have the same general theme.

Here are the characteristics of what makes someone a "high risk" driver:

Serious and major convictions: A serious or major conviction would include tickets such as impaired driving, careless driving, vehicular manslaughter, driving without insurance, or driving without a license. A driver that has one or more of these convictions is considered by the insurance company to be flagrantly careless and, so, is put into a high risk category.

Multiple convictions: Once you hit three convictions in total, no matter what the convictions, you are placed into the high risk category. And, I really do mean any tickets, from speeding, to stop sign, to traffic light, to passing a school bus. And, it doesn't even matter if you lose demerit points; a ticket's a ticket.

Accidents: Any time you have two at-fault accidents in a six-year period of time you are considered high risk. And, it doesn't even matter what the extent of damage was. You could have a collision with $100 in damage or you could have a collision with $25,000 in damage; it doesn't matter - each accident is considered as one, and only one, accident. So, if you rear end someone, it is your fault; if you slide off the road due to weather conditions, it is your fault (weather conditions is not a good excuse), if you hit someone while making a left turn, it is your fault.
Tip! Actually, auto insurance quotes help you to evaluate the insurance options available for your car. It is very important to get different quotes from auto insurance companies so that you can compare prices and know which policy is the most suitable for your need.

Insurance cancellations: Insurance companies take into account if prior insurance companies cancel your auto insurance policy. Any time you've been cancelled due to things such as non-disclosure of important information or material misrepresentation you'll be considered high risk. For this reason it is important not to lie when getting auto insurance quotes. Your lies could affect you financially. Also, any time you've had two or more cancellations due to non-payment of insurance premiums, many companies may put you in the high risk category.
